So I have decided to venture out and try to sell stock photos. That said, I have decided that I will not be using the $1 microstock websites like istockphoto.com or fotolia.com to sell my images. Instead, I will try to sell my stock photos to designers and magazine publishers via my own website. I have experimented a little by posting a few images on my website and trying to get listed on google and to my surprise have had some great results.
It seems that the trick to being listed and found through google is adding the right keywords to your images and giving them enough time to be placed in the search results. For example, one of the images I tested titled “Drawing Hearts in the Sand” took approximately 1 month to show up on google images under various keywords. Ever since it became listed I have been receiving between 80-100 visits per month off of the keywords to this image alone.
Now that I have committed to shooting stock photos its time to load the website up with images that photo buyers will want to buy. The fun part of the process. So if you are a model, MUA or other creative and would like to collaborate on a project or you just have an idea for a concept to shoot, send me a message.
